MADD Canada’s National Victim’s Weekend

I would like to thank all who were able to attend the MADD Canada National Victims’ Weekend, April 29 – May 1, 2011.

Words cannot describe all that happened over those 42 hours. Two hundred people – hurting from the devastation caused by impaired driving, bravely came together to find hope and healing. Whether struggling with the loss of a loved one or dealing with injuries; the connecting, bonding and sharing shone through.

For many, it was your first time attending the Victims’ Weekend. As we spoke, the feeling of comfort and ‘oneness’ became very clear. Being able to share our story, to cry and to be understood, without having to explain why, lifts an awesome weight from our shoulders.

Please remember that support from MADD Canada doesn’t end after the weekend – Reach Out – help is there when you need it and even when you’re not sure what you need.

So from one Martian to another – Thank you everyone for being there and for the heartfelt hugs.

Help stop impaired driving. If you see a driver you suspect is impaired, call 911.
