Donate by text
How does the program work? How am I billed? Are there additional service charges associated with the program?
You text MADD to 45678 from most Canadian carriers to contribute $5 to MADD Canada.
You will see the $5 charge on your next mobile phone bill.
After texting MADD to 45678, you will receive a confirmation message asking for approval of the donation. Simple reply back with ‘Yes’ and the donation will do through.
Depending on your phone plan, you may be charged a nominal fee to send or receive text messages (typically between 5 and 15 cents per text), but if you have an unlimited text messaging plan, you will not see any additional charges from your wireless carrier.
One-hundred percent of your donation will go to MADD Canada.
Will I start receiving text alerts from MADD Canada once I make a text donation?
You will NOT receive alerts from MADD Canada after making a text donation. You will only receive text alerts if you opt-in.
Who can see my mobile number when I make a text donation?
Your mobile number is kept confidential and it will not be shared with or used by anyone without your permission.
This is a great campaign. I want to tell all my friends and family. How can I share the news?
Send a text message to your friends and family saying “Hey! Text MADD to 45678 to donate $5 to help raise funds for MADD Canada.
Is this a legitimate form of fundraising?
Yes, MADD Canada’s mobile giving program has been set up in partnership with ZipGive and The Mobile Giving Foundation which was founded in 2009 in partnership with the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association.
What are your goals/expectations for fundraising with the text message donation program?
We are always looking for innovative ways to fundraise and give our donors as many ways as possible to give back.
MADD Canada wants to make giving an easy and secure process, and we believe that our text message giving program accomplishes these goals.

End-of-Year Tax Receipts as per Canada Revenue Agency requirements
1. Donations received by mail
Donations must be post marked by Canada Post as of Dec 31. A postmark date after Dec 31 requires us to issue a charitable tax receipt for the following year.
2. Donations made by telephone/fax
Any credit card donation request received by phone or fax after December 31st (EST) will be considered a donation for the following year.
3. Donations that have been couriered or hand-delivered
Donations must be sent with a courier date or hand delivered date of Dec 31. Any donations received after that date qualify for a charitable tax receipt for the following year.
4. Online donations
Online donations are receipted at the time the donation is made. Therefore, any donation made after December 31st, will be considered a donation for the following year.
