North Bay police are thanking a citizen who called 911 to report a hit and run incident Wednesday night in the city.

Police responded to a 911 call on Spencer Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. after a parked vehicle was struck outside a bar.

The driver then fled the scene.

A witness to the incident called 911 and police located the suspect vehicle at a motel.

A suspect was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

A 41-year-old Barrie man faces one count each of fail to stop at the scene of an accident, driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

He is to appear in court March 21.
