GRAVENHURST — Members of the public tipped OPP officers to an impaired driver on Monday evening.
On Monday, April 10, Bracebridge OPP officers received a complaint from a member of the public shortly after 5:00 p.m. about an impaired driver on Bethune Drive in Gravenhurst.
Police patrolled the area, located the suspect vehicle on Muskoka Road 169 and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, 61 year-old Dale Markham of Toronto, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and operation of motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliletres of blood.
Markham received an immediate 90 day driver’s licence suspension and had his vehicle towed and impounded. He will answer to his charges at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 9.
Bracebridge OPP thanks members of the public that become engaged in the safety of their communities and call police if they suspect someone about to drive, or are driving, while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
