MADD Moncton

Get Involved & Make a Difference

Volunteers are the heart and soul of our chapter.    Our goal is to work with you to match your skills and interests with the activities of the chapter.  To assist with this, we have developed a network of small groups working on specific initiatives.

Our volunteers are more than just mothers.  We encourage everyone to get involved - men, women, youth, seniors...if you have a couple of hours each month, you can make a difference!  Please complete our Volunteer Information Form and let us know how you would like to become involved.

Chapter Administration

Our Board consists of a President, Past-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Media Relations Coordinator and Committee Coordinators.  If you have basic office skills, we have many opportunities for you to assist with the operation of our chapter.  As you become more involved, you may decide that you want to become a Chapter Board Member.

Events & Tradeshows

Throughout the year MADD-SENB is constantly involved in activites taking place in our communities.  These events give us an opportunity to increase public awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and the services of MADD.   Both adult and youth volunteers are needed for everything from folding some of the 10,000 red ribbons that arrive in September to working at booths during events.

Plans for 2009/2010 include the  Santa Claus Parade, Campaign 911, Project Red Ribbon, Christmas at the Coliseum and various tradeshows that feature cars, boats, recreational vehicles and ATVs.

Sponsorship & Fundraising

MADD is charitiable, non-profit organization.  Our programs and services are made possible by the generous support of individuals, local companies and national and regional sponsors.  MADD-SENB is planning two major fundraising initiatives for 2009/2010 - Strides for Change 5 km Walk and Moncton Dragonboat Festival.

Volunteers

Recruiting, training and recognizing volunteers that are committed to our organization is vital.  Volunteers on this committee coordinate recruiting of new volunteers, providing initial and ongoing training and ensure that our volunteers are recognized both locally and nationally for their dedication and committment.

Community & Schools

MADD-SENB is dedicated to increasing public awareness of the consequences of impaired driving, both in the community at large and within the schools in Districts 1 and 2.  This includes public speaking, school presentations and MADD Canada's Multi-Media Presentation.

MADD-SENB is honored to be the host of MADD Canada's launch of the French version of the Multi-Media Presentation "Fini" in September 2009.  If you are a school administrator or teacher and would like to have an in-class presentation or learn more about MADD Canada's Multi-media presentation, please contact our office.

Victim Services

Providing services to victims of impaired driving is our number one priority.  Victim Services Volunteers (VSVs) must first be a member of MADD Canada.   To be a VSV, there are 2 levels of training required

Level I is a free online course available to all MADD Canada members. Although it is not a requirement of membership, we recommend that all members complete the course to increase their sensitivity and knowledge of victims’ issues.

Level II VSV's work directly with victim's of impaired driving and their families.  Candidates must complete Level I training at a Gold Level and meet all other screening requirements before being considered for VSV II training.

Court Monitoring

MADD Canada Court monitors are volunteers who attend court and keep track of impaired charges and how they are handled. This is done to encourage the justice system to recognize the seriousness of the crime and to sentence offenders accordingly.

In 2009, Janet Mason     of MADD-SENB, was recognized as the National Court Monitor of the Year for her efforts in this area.  Unfortunately, every week, there are impaired driving charges before the courts in Moncton.  If you are available to attend court during the day and are interested in doing court monitoring, please let us know.   One-on-one and online training is available.
