MADD Comox Valley Chapter, British Columbia

Comox Valley is a small community on the Vancouver Island with an approximate population of 54,000. Fundraising in small communities can be difficult, but MADD Comox Valley has risen to the challenge.

Not that long ago, the Chapter was struggling financially. Today, thanks to their dedication and creativity, the Chapter has developed several successful fundraising partnerships, and is investing back into the community by way of education, awareness and support programs. Along the way, they have developed some incredible relationships within their local community.

Over the past year, the Chapter has organized several initiatives, including: a successful Project Red Ribbon donation box campaign; and a partnership with Comox Valley Volkswagen, whereby Volkswagen donated $50 to the Chapter for every car sold over a 2-month period, resulting in a total of $3,450. The Chapter was also the charity of choice for the Kinetic Construction golf tournament, resulting in a donation of $4,000.

Thanks to the Chapter’s fundraising successes, they have been able to: expand their education and awareness in the community; provide goodie bags for check stops; cover room rental and provide refreshments for their monthly support group; send families and volunteers to MADD Canada’s victim/survivor and leadership conferences; and send volunteers to the regional training conference.
