Heather Rosemary Sadler

Heather Rosemary Sadler

Home city: Pakenham, Ontario
Age: 21
Date of crash: August 22, 1999

Our beautiful, beloved daughter was hit, killed and left to die at the side of the road she was walking on, by a driver who had been bar-hopping for several hours prior to the crash. When finally apprehended many hours later by the police, he blew “0” on the breathalyzer, resulting in no charge of impaired driving. Heather’s senseless, tragic death has devastated her mom, dad, and 5 brothers and sisters. The driver was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. The justice system failed Heather and her family.

Memorial Message

Please don’t ask us if we’re over it yet; we’ll never be over it.
Please don’t tell us she is in a better place; she isn’t here with us.
Please don’t tell us you know how we feel, unless you have lost a child.
Please don’t ask us if we feel better, bereavement isn’t a condition that clears up.
Please don’t tell us at least we had her for 21 years; what year would you choose for your child to die?
Please don’t tell us God doesn’t give us more than we can bear.
Please, just say you are sorry.
Please, just say you remember Heather, if you do.
Please, just let us talk about Heather.
And please mention her name
Please, just let us cry.
