Jennifer Dawn Poole

Jennifer Dawn Poole

Home city: Kelowna, British Columbia
Age: 16
Date of crash: November 21, 1964

Jennifer left our home about 7pm November 21st to pick up Fern, her friend of ten years. Their plan was to pick up Fern’s mother who was visiting her husband, a patient in Kelowna General Hospital. Fern had her learner’s licence, we had Jennifer attend driving school so she did know the rules. Typical of her, she would help her friend all she could by allowing her to drive. It was a clear night. Crossing the Okanagan Lake Bridge they were hit head on by a drunk driver who had spent the day at a bar. Fern froze at the wheel. Jennifer could not wrest the wheel from her. Jennifer was torn apart internally and died within twenty minutes. Fern was badly hurt and had her leg in a cast for the better part of a year.

Written by Hazel Poole, Jennifer’s mother.
