Lynne Annette Lucyk (Nelson)

Home city: Swift Current, SK
Age: 29
Date of crash: November 17, 2006

Lynne was a beautiful, talented and intelligent 29 year old woman. She was a devoted Mother to her two children: a daughter aged 13 and a son aged 8.

On Nov. 17, 2006 she was rear ended by a 24 year old impaired driver. She was killed instantly when the car she was in slammed into a semi. The convicted driver had been disqualified from driving due to a previous impaired charge from which he refused rehabilitation.

Lynne’s family and friends miss her immensely. There is a void now that can never be filled. Her two children are motherless, our parents have had to bury a child; I have lost my only sibling and dearest friend. She left behind her true love Jim, who survived the crash that night; and so many friends who shared in her life.

She will never be forgotten…Forever she will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her artistic and creative talents, and for the way you felt if you were lucky enough to have known her love.

This crime was so completely preventable and senseless…The impaired driver received a 2 ½ year jail term, which doesn’t in my opinion demonstrate the severity of the crime. We need to work together for tougher sentences to act as a deterrent in our society where unfortunately sentences don’t reflect the seriousness of these crimes.

Quote: “If only we had known, we’d never hear your voice again….we’d memorize each thing you ever said. And on those lonely nights we could think of them once more. Keep your words alive inside our heads. If only we had known…we’d never hear your voice again…”
