Marlisse Annette Richards

Marlisse Annette Richards

Home city: North Vancouver, British Columbia
Date of crash: December 4, 1998

Patricia Goethals was drinking and driving on the Upper Levels Highway on the wrong side of the road (with a cement median) and hit Marlisse Richard’s vehicle head on. Marlisse’s mother Wendy Tamminga composed the following memorial message.

Memorial Message

Marlisse’s love of life brought her two beautiful children into our family, along with friends from her school and work days, to become new aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers, that are all part of our family today.

Her art work lives at the Quay in North Vancouver, in shops in Maple Ridge and in our family homes. She could indeed make a silk “purse” from a sow’s “ear”. She left many lovely things she had designed with her sewing, gardening and cooking. The greatest gift she gave to all she knew was her incredible, outrageous wit, the memory of which still reduces us all to laughter today.

Marlisse’s insistence on expressing her own uniqueness and her enormous love of people, has left a legacy of grace and beauty to her community, family and friends that will live with us for all time …
