Patrick David Magee

Patrick David Magee

Home city: Wingham, Ontario
Age: 17
Date of crash: July 14, 1994

The drunk driver was travelling west on Highway 86 in the wrong lane. He was passing four vehicles on a hill. He crashed head on with the Porsche, driven by Stewart Anderson, a Wingham chiropractor, who was severely injured. Passenger Kevin Rintoul, 16, was killed instantly. Patrick was airlifted to University Hospital in London with severe head injuries. We gave permission to remove him from life support on July 15, 1994.

The drunk driver who killed these two young, innocent boys was a 32-year-old father of three with a new baby due. He was also killed in the crash.

Memorial Message

The following message was provided by the Magee family, David, Lynne, Brendan and Erin.

Taking our son and brother, Patrick, off life-support was the hardest decision that our family ever had to make. We knew that he would not want to be left unconscious and dependent on machines. He had often said that “life was for living” and that he intended to live every day as if it were his last.

He had so many hopes and dreams and so little time. His two passions were beautiful girls and snowboarding. When a drunk driver killed Patrick, he took many of our hopes and dreams. He left us with a hole in our hearts and lives that can never be filled.

We remember our Patrick David — “Forever Young.”

“Dream as though you’ll live forever
Live as though you’ll die tomorrow.”
