Sean Christopher Neufeld

Home city: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Age: 18
Date of crash: October 1, 1999

At approximately 1:15am October 1, 1999, a drunk driver swerved into Sean’s lane on Hwy. #5, killing Sean instantly. Sean had no alcohol in his system. The 34 year-old drunk driver was 3 – 4 times over the legal drinking and driving limit. She was also killed. A third vehicle driven by another drunk driver hit the initial crash. Charges were laid but dropped due to a technicality. Sean was driving his van home after having lent it to a friend. Sean’s motorcycle licence was expiring at midnight and he needed his van to enjoy his days off work.

My name is Cynthia McLeod. Sean was my only child.

Memorial Message

Sean brought joy and happiness into our home every day. Sean was always happy and full of life. I miss his hugs and, “I love you Mom.” I think of Sean a thousand times a day. Sean’s goal in life was to be a policeman. I will never be able to continue to watch with pride as his future continued to unfold. I will forever miss his love and laughter. The loss of Sean by the cruel, irresponsible yet preventable actions of a drunk driver is devastating to me.
