In the early hours of January 1, 1999, Zoë Childs was left paralyzed from the waist down, unable to ever walk again after being hit head-on by a drunk driver. Her boyfriend, Derek Dupré, was killed and his twin brother, Nicholas, was seriously injured. The driver of the car carrying Zoë Childs, her best friend Trish Hadden, was also seriously injured.
